A community information network based in Eugene, OR. Proudly serving as an ad-free, tracker-free, "small-tech" alternative to social media since 2025. Open to anyone in the area (as loosely as you'd like to define that).
This web interface is like many websites. That is to say, running as a skin on top of some back-end system the user isn't intended to see. In this case, the back-end system is Emerald Valley BBS. In reality, whenever you book a flight, transact in online banking or any other actual serious activity, the website is doing just what this one is. It's sending pre-defined terminal commands to the REAL system based on your mouse clicks and things you type.
No matter how fancy that website is, it's just sending text to a terminal and when you get glitches or crashes etc it's likely because someone made that webpage send an improper command to the terminal (a "feature" you may find on display here too). BBSs are an example of how before websites were invented, these terminal systems were designed with direct human interaction in mind. They expect you to look at them so they try to look good.
New Users: Click the "Connect to BBS" button above and type "NEW" to create your account.
Existing Users: Click "Login" at the top right of the page, or use the terminal window above. Note: when you use the webpage login (top right) it's really just this webpage interacting with the bbs as a backend and is there for convenience.
Best Experience: Download SyncTERM for the authentic terminal experience.
